Clearing Guadalupe Storm
The morning of clearing... It rained non-stop for a couple of days, with sustained winds over 30 mph and gusts up to 70. I thought my van was going to tip over a few times, and it made for some bizarre dreams. I didn't get to do my planned hikes, but caught this on my way out. I was straddling a guardrail trying to stay upright in the wind, snapping several shots because the wind was blowing the camera despite the tripod. It also didn't help that it was in the 20's too, and my hands were in pain... This is a view of the back side of Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas, from FR540 in New Mexico. Dog Canyon is in the center, Guadalupe Peak is hidden by the clouds.
